Seedesign Studio designed this high profile civic space in collaboration with The City of Albany and H+H Architects.
The Albany Visitor Centre is the extension to the existing library located on York Street. The courtyard on the north side of the building connects with the recently upgraded Town Square through use of local Albany granite stone.
The space deals with difficult existing levels that interface with the broader Alison Hartman Gardens, and also provides a flexible space for hosting events, break out spaces from the Library and Visitor Centre, areas for quiet reflection, or a place to enjoy a cup of coffee. The design forms an informal amphitheater, with the materials selected offering a soft and inviting space for people to enjoy the space.
